Let Knowledge Flow (2006-06-01)

Document versions

Communication is such a key part of life that it is often very easy to underestimate it. Our history has been defined by communication or the lack of it. Our ability to print on a large scale when the printing press was invented many centuries ago helped to give rise to a greater dissemination of knowledge. Now, through electronic forms of communication, we can not only instantly communicate by phone anywhere in the world but also - thanks to the digital revolution - transmit information in many formats.

At PharmaVentures we are constantly researching and analysing deals in the pharmaceutical industry; the challenge is on how we communicate that knowledge. The raw information that we collect has to be processed: analysed, catalogued and categorised. By this means we have produced PharmaDeals® Agreements - our database of 23,000+ deals, which we update as an ongoing process. The classified information that the database contains is used in analyses that are made for PharmaDeals Review, various PharmaVentures' reports and other bespoke projects that we undertake for our clients.

Because these clients all have different needs and tastes, it has always been part of our commitment to communicate knowledge in the widest possible range of formats. As such, back in 1994, we were one of the pioneers in the use of the Internet for pharmaceutical analysis. The Internet has been a huge revolution in communication, and it continues to drive the sharing of knowledge way beyond the use of simple HTML.

"Now we have launched the world's first pharmaceutical business television show to be available through the Internet. The show is called PharmaVentures Business Review, and it allows us to communicate the information and analysis generated by PharmaVentures in a new and exciting way"

The next generation and revolution is underway, and that includes the use of video and audio for communication. This is the online media generation - as neatly exemplified by podcasts. My business commentaries themselves have now been available as a podcasts for a year, and we were the first in the pharmaceutical industry to post podcasts on the Internet and have them available at Apple iTunes.

Now we have launched the world's first pharmaceutical business television show to be available through the Internet. The show is called PharmaVentures Business Review, and it allows us to communicate the information and analysis generated by PharmaVentures in a new and exciting way - not only via podcasts, but also in other popular formats - Windows Media Player and Quicktime. As well as presenting analysis, the show enables us to interview key players in the industry, and to debate key issues. This will allow companies and organisations to access information and knowledge in a convenient and user-friendly format. We hope that you enjoy our show.
